“Reality: What a concept!” – Robbin Williams
Preface
Welcome to “How Things Work’s” initial post! This publication was originally conceived as a six-book series, in two volumes, designed to give anyone who read them an increadibly deep and rich understanding of how our world, our reality, came to be. It is not an accident. It is a step-by-step process over thousands of years and multiple world views that has led us to our current perception of what is “real.” The first two books, “Dualism” and “The Power of Three,” are now published on BooksNotOnAmazon.com and the third book, “The Enigmatic Mystery” will be published soon, completing Volume I: Science & Religion.
In Book I, Dualism, we start with the apple in the Garden of Eden and end with the creation of Apple Computer in Cupertino, California. The birth of dualism begins with the recognition of good and evil, and concludes with the recognition of “0”s and “1”s, the duality of digital reality. This newsletter will present the books’ arguments in weekly “chunks” with a Preface and a Postscript to help solidify the weekly concept.
Very few newsletters will actually make you smarter or wiser. This one will.
Consideration #1
Introduction
What separates human beings from all other animals is our obsession with understanding the nature of existence and our reality. As self-conscious creatures, we question our experience in terms of our unique relationship to it. The questions regarding reality and how it affects our relationship with existence, reflect the fundamental premises leading to the greatest advancements of humanity: language, mathematics, philosophy, religion, science, medicine, art, music, politics, and more. It could certainly be argued that our recognition, understanding, and manipulation of reality is the essential history of our species.
“As self-conscious creatures, we question our experience in terms of our unique relationship to it.”
The first glimpse of reality came through our direct experience with the patterns of existence. Early humans recognized the consistent patterns of day and night, male and female, life and death, and how consistently these patterns of opposites manifested the essential experience of our existence. This duality served as the gateway for considerations far beyond the world of experience, into the world of understanding. The eventual fruit of that ancient investigation has resulted in the digital revolution that we are now experiencing today.
“This duality served as the gateway for considerations far beyond the world of experience, into the world of understanding.”
The second step in our evolution toward the truth about reality required moving beyond the recognition of how the world worked to a deeper inquiry into understanding why it works that way. Moving from what reality looks like, to defining its purpose, and discovering why it works the way it does, marks the beginning of what we might call the modern world. This involved manipulating the balance of opposites through a third influence designed to manifest a specific reality. By adding the element of reason, through conscious abstraction, the ability to manipulate and manifest new realities became a turning point in the development of individual human beings and their societies. Through reason and logic, human beings revolutionized the possibility of understanding and manipulating reality and existence through pure abstract thought; leading to mathematics, science, and eventually quantum physics.
“By adding the element of reason, through conscious abstraction, the ability to manipulate and manifest new realities became a turning point in the development of individual human beings and their societies.”
We now stand on the threshold of the next transformation of reality. The abstract qualities of quantum mechanics and digital technology offer a perspective on existence that is stranger and more bizarre than anyone, from any time, could have possibly imagined. A reality that reveals the true essential element controlling the balance of all existence: consciousness. The realization that the manifestation of all reality and existence is directed through, and manifested by, consciousness shatters the foundation of traditional science, while simultaneously expanding the metaphysical possibilities of philosophy and religion. The nature of consciousness has now become the cornerstone to understanding both existence and the essence of reality.
This book encompasses both the history and consequences of our struggle to grasp the concept of reality and the nature of our existence. It also helps explain why things are the way they are, and how “mass” and "individual" consciousness directly effects the ultimate manifestation of our present and future reality. The reconciliation of experience, understanding, and consciousness now offers us a novel view of reality, and its consequences as manifested through existence, that is reflected through pure abstraction. We stand on the abyss of the most important revelation of all time: Reality, is not as real as we thought.
Here is how it works.
Postscript
Alright, let’s break down the goal of this newsletter: to understand the history of Reality so that we can understand our own current Reality. That is the purpose of the newsletter. The best way to do that is to start at the very beginning and go step-by-step through the process until we have a thorough knowledge and understanding of how we got here. Everything begins with the concept of dualism.
Next week we start at the very beginning, the Garden of Eden, where dualism is first introduced as the knowledge of the distinction between the possibility of good and evil. The foundation of human reason.
