“We all have our time machines, don't we. Those that take us back are memories... And those that carry us forward, are dreams.”
― H.G. Wells
PREFACE
Welcome Everybody!
I have been having a conversation with “Reality by a Thread” subscribers over the past few weeks about a strange story I saw on the History Channel last month. It was about a Catholic priest who claimed to have created a machine capable of “tuning into the past,” and that he had used it to “view” specific historical events. He claimed that “physical lives” create “physical vibrations” that are recorded by the universe which can be “played back.”
According to the story, the device was deemed “too dangerous” and was dismantled; now being stored in the Vatican archives. The Vatican basically denies this story, and there is reasonable evidence for skepticism.
“Regardless of whether this specific claim is true or not, could such a thing actually be possible…?”
However, the veracity of the story was not my main concern; the idea of our lives being possibly recorded by the universe was. Regardless of whether this specific claim is true or not, could such a thing actually be possible from a quantum mechanics perspective? And if so, what might that mean?
“Could these ‘life recordings’ be somehow altered or edited like other waves…?”
Three things came immediately to mind when considering this idea: Could this be related to references concerning the Akashic record, or in Biblical terms, the “Book of Life?” Could these “life recordings” be somehow altered or edited like other waves, such as sound waves? Is there a possible connection between altering “life waves” and the reported miracles of Jesus in the New Testament related to the forgiveness of sins. Since we are about to consider the miracles of Jesus as recorded in the New Testament, it seemed like a good time to explore such a dynamic possibility.
In the next three Special Edition Newsletters we will consider the claim that such a machine was actually created and how it supposedly worked, one possibility for how such a theory might connect to the Biblical concepts known as the “Book of Life” and the “forgiveness of sins, and finally what the “quantum mechanism” for such an experience might be. All just pure rational speculation. However, hopefully fun, and interesting speculation designed to ignite possible new insight as opposed to unnecessary new dogma!
“Think of the next three newsletters as a ‘metaphysical thought experiment…’”
Einstein engaged in purely rational “thought experiments” to gain a non-empirical understanding about empirical scientific concepts such as the nature of light. Think of the next three newsletters as a “metaphysical thought experiment” regarding the non-empirical Biblical concepts related to miracles, the Book of Life, and the forgiveness of sins. Just something to think about…
Have fun!
CONSIDERATION #110 – “Quantum Miracles: Time Waves”
The mythology surrounding the device known as the “Chronovisor” centers around a Benedictine Friar named Pellegrino Ernetti. Like many previous “scientific discoveries” this one begins by accident.
Ernetti was the most famous exorcist in Venice, a renowned expert on sound and Gregorian chant, and a respected physicist. The story begins with a strange occurrence when working on a way to filter out specific harmonics, or frequencies, from Gregorian Chant:
“How did the priest get a hold of such a fantastic machine? According to what he told Brune, he had been working with a Father Agostino Gemelli at the Catholic University of Milan trying to filter harmonics out of Gregorian chants when they heard the voice of Gemelli's late father speaking to them on the wire recorder they were using (Gemelli later confirmed this incident). This got the priest thinking about what happened to all the sights and sounds humans make. Did they disappear completely or do they continue to exist in some way? Ernetti approached some eminent scientists and assembled a team to work on the project. The group included Enrico Fermi (one of the designers of the first atomic bomb) and Wernher von Braun (the German rocket scientist).”
Lee Krystek – “The Missing Time Machine”
The mythology expands when in 2002 Father Francois Brune released his book “The Vatican’s New Mystery,” in which he tells the story of Ernetti’s amazing time device:
“Brune, who learned of the device in the early 1960s, swears the Chronovisor exists. A day after he met scientist-priest Father Pellegrino Ernetti for the first time, the two were sailing along the Grand Canal of Venice discussing biblical interpretations, when Ernetti explained that theories and interpretations were unnecessary when one could see the truth for himself. He explained to Brune how the Chronovisor functioned, allowing the viewer to both see and hear events of the past... His full account is included in Brune’s book.”
Tasha Shayne – “The Chronovisor: The Vatican’s Mysterious Time Travel Device”
The device functioned by tuning into the frequencies generated from past lives that were still present and vibrating in the universe.
“The Chronovisor used a process known as ‘chronotopology.’ The idea behind it is that it was possible to recreate the past through vibrations left in space-time. Essentially, it tuned into the frequencies of the past and deconstructed those frequencies into images and sounds, effectively teleporting the user back to that specific moment in time to view.”
Christopher M. Wathen – “The Chronovisor: A Controversial Instrument of Time Travel?”
These vibrations could then be captured by the Chronovisor and “rebroadcast” in “our” time.
“Ernetti claimed that the machine could look into the past and bring back recordings of historic events, like a television, using the combination of a cathode-ray tube, dials, antennas, and some sort of resonance amplifier. The images it supposedly captured from the past appeared in hologram form, and users could even rotate them to view different perspectives.”
Christopher M. Wathen – “The Chronovisor: A Controversial Instrument of Time Travel?”
However, the Chronovisor is not really a “time machine”; because no one actually “travels” in time. They simply have access to the “vibrations” of the past. We do not “travel to the past” when we watch Dr. Martin Luther King’s “I Have a Dream” speech from 1963; we simply “witness” the past.
“It is unlike the fictional devices found in most popular books, TV shows and movies, however, that transport people into the future or past. This type of time machine would bring pictures and sounds from the past into the present. Time machines that transport people seem far beyond anything our technology can currently build, but what about a device that just deals with images and sounds? Could a machine like Father Ernetti described be built?
We actually use crude versions of chronovisors every day. A security camera hooked to a video recorder will enable us to see into the past. Even something as simple as a mirror is really a type of chronovisor. We don't see ourselves in the mirror as we currently are, but as we were just a few millionths of a second before: the time it takes the light to travel from our face to the mirror, reflect off and return to our eyes.
Large telescopes also act as chronovisors. The distant galaxies we view through these devices do not actually look like they are today, but as they appeared when the light left them millions, or perhaps billions of years ago. If an alien scientist on a planet one-hundred light years away had a powerful enough telescope that he could view activities on Earth he wouldn't see recent events, but life as it was a century ago. He would see the Wright Brothers invention of the airplane, not the launch of a space shuttle.
If it is possible to see into the past of a distant galaxy using a telescope, why can't a device be built that would allow us to peer into history here back on Earth?”
Lee Krystek – “The Missing Time Machine”
So, the Chronovisor is more like a television that lets us “tune in” to the past, as opposed to a time machine that would allow us to “travel” into the past. This is a much simpler concept to understand.
No “laws of physics” need to be broken or worried about in such a scenario. If our life produces physical vibrations, there is no inherent problem in rebroadcasting those vibrations back into the original light and sound that manifested them. The key point in this hypothetical theory is that there are “life vibrations” that can be rebroadcast; therefore, everything we do in our life is recorded by the universe.
“What matters is the ‘idea,’ and that it is not illogical to consider that all of our actions create an effect.”
Establishing the fidelity of this story is not the point of the newsletter; for all intents and purposes it doesn’t matter. What matters is the “idea,” and that it is not illogical to consider that all of our actions create an effect. Perhaps these effects are manifested through waves. If these waves were to be changed or altered, the empirical effect would also be changed or altered. Negative actions, or sins, might even be erased, or forgiven.
The alternative empirical consequence from such a process might be experienced as a miracle.
POSTSCRIPT
There is a certain inherent logic in the idea that actions can create waves. In fact, often times waves are the “consequence” of an action, such as throwing a rock into a pond, which creates ripples, or waves. Therefore, if our actions are “part of the universe” they would be manifested through waves, just like “everything” else.
Scientifically, it has been shown that “any movement” creates minute gravitational waves in the universe. From a modern scientific perspective there is no problem with the possibility of a Chronovisor. In String Theory “everything” in the universe is comprised of quantum waves. Everything! That would include our “thoughts” as well as our “actions.”
“So, can our ‘thoughts’ and ‘physical actions’ be edited, or changed?”
We know that waves, such as sound waves, can be recorded and “played back.” Therefore, if “life actions” create waves, they too should be able to be recorded and “played back.” However, we also know that once a sound wave is recorded, it can also be “edited.” So, can our “thoughts” and “physical actions” be edited, or changed? Can the “time waves” of someone’s life be altered, or parts of it even erased?
This is the starting point for a consideration that ties into our current consideration in the Weekly Newsletter regarding the New Testament and the “miracles” of Jesus. Is there a physical, or metaphysical, connection to the scientific concept of gravitational time waves and the Biblical concept known as “The Book of Life,” which reportedly contains a record of everything that has occurred in a person’s life.
“And I saw the dead, great and small, standing before the throne, and books were opened. Also another book was opened, the book of life. And the dead were judged according to their works, as recorded in the books... and all were judged according to what they had done.”
Revelation 20:12-14
Does this idea of our thoughts and actions being transformed into recordable waves, possibly have a connection to the Biblical concepts related to the “forgiveness of sins” and the “Book of Life?” How might a process involving the alteration of reality through a quantum mechanism called “forgiving sins” appear from an objective empirical perspective? Perhaps, like a miracle.
Next week we will consider this process in relation to the miracles of Jesus as recorded in the New Testament…

• REALITY BY A THREAD: QUANTUM MIRACLES - PART THREE
“The mechanism that shatters the illusion of time is “faith.” The mechanism that allows Jesus to manipulate quantum reality through his unique consciousness is a mystery. However, are there any “scientific” theories that could perhaps shed more light on this mystery? One possible mechanism in quantum mechanics centers around the concepts of “The Multiverse” and “Parallel Universes.”
